Honestly, it’s irresponsible to treat Trump supporters in any way that suggests their actions and views are excusable. The ones you know, shame in both public and private. Shun them. Large-scale social enforcement works. Bigots’ going unrebuked is why we’re in this mess.
The deluge of desperate, whining pleas from so many Trump supporters circulating right now to not “bully” them, to extend them respect as though they didn’t just vote to strip it alongside actual, tangible rights away from masses of people, essentially to coddle their consciences and pretend their vote wasn’t a vote for injustice itself—this is evidence that enforcing accountability via social means WORKS, and plenty of these assholes are indeed afraid of it.
Could you specify what rights that Trump has threatened?
Yeah, sure.
“Sealioning is the name given to a specific, pervasive form of aggressive cluelessness, that masquerades as a sincere desire to understand.
A Sealion is a person who, when confronted with a fact that they don’t care to acknowledge, say, the persistence of systemic racism in America, will ask endlessly for ‘proof’ and insist that it is the other person’s job to stop everything they are doing and address the issue to their satisfaction.
Sealions are just ‘asking nicely’ but they are asking questions that have been asked and answered fully many times, and are unwilling to so much as open a tab to look up the answer, nor will they recognize the validity of your sources, your experience or expertise.”
I have done extensive research to try and find out why anyone would support these things. And why someone would go as far as to spend millions of dollars so people don’t go jail for beating their pet dogs, and the closest answers I have gotten from interviews is that Forrest Lucas seems obsessed with the idea, “That a man has a god given right to do with, what he pleases to his property.”
“I just called the House Oversight Committee (202-225-5074) to support the call for a bipartisan review of Trump’s financials and apparent conflicts of interest. It took me two minutes, and the woman on the phone said that they are absolutely tallying calls – the more they get, the more likely the Committee is to demand ALL of Trump’s financial information.
She said that there’s not much time left, as they are out of the office next week for Thanksgiving. And after that, they’re going to make a decision.
NOW is your chance to use what’s left of democracy to send a strong message and demand change. Please, do this ASAFP. If you get a “mailbox is full” message, call back in a minute or so – that seems to be the default when lines are busy.
That number again is (202-225-5074). Website here:
“Likes” feel nice in the short term. “Shares” get the word out. ACTUALLY CALLING ACTUALLY DOES SOMETHING.”
NICE; GOOD; AS IMPORTANT AS CALLING YOUR REPS. I sometimes have an instinctive feeling that I have to stay focused on just one issue or lose the effectiveness of my voice. In some situations that might be true, but it’s just not the case when it comes to phone calls. Especially once you realize how easy they are. I have not gotten through yet, but I intend to keep trying!
We can also call committee members directly. Here’s a full list. If your own rep isn’t on there, I recommend going after the following two:
Jason Chaffetz, Chair DC Office: (202) 225-7751 UT Office: (801) 851-2500
“Hello, my name is _____ and I live in _____ and I would like to log my support of the bipartisan review of Donald Trump’s financials and conflicts of interest. Thanks! Have a great day.”
stranger things: evokes 80s nostalgia, is visually impressive with excellent choreography, has a kickass soundtrack, a large, incredibly talented cast, groups of characters who are very likable, is very much about friendship and family and loyalty and pursuing your goals against the odds
the get down: evokes 70s nostalgia, is visually impressive with excellent choreography, has a kickass soundtrack, a large, incredibly talented cast, groups of characters who are very likable, is very much about friendship and family and loyalty and pursuing your goals against the odds
